Future World Central opened with Epcot on October 1, 1982
with Epcot's signature attraction, Spaceship Earth, along
with CommuniCore.
CommuniCore would eventually close down to make way for
Innoventions in 1994, while Spaceship Earth has remained
similar to it's original vision with a few small changes
made throughout the years.
In addition to the attractions, Future World Central is home
to Club Cool, a spot that allows guests to try sodas from
around the world, Mouse Gear, one of the largest stores in
Walt Disney World, and the Epcot Character Spot, which is
where you can meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto
in one easy stop!
Fun Facts: When the park first opened,
representatives from 22 countries around the world poured
water from their native countries into the Fountain of
Nations.
Touring Tips: Due to the fact that
Spaceship Earth is the first attraction you pass in Epcot,
it is often crowded early in the morning. If you want to
ride this attraction, and you really should, stop by later
in the day after the lines die down! You won't regret it!
Every 15 minutes a water show set to music is
performed at the Fountain of Nations! There are different
musical numbers that the water "dances" to so try and watch
it a few times on your trip!
