Sunday Brunch

October 6, 2013

Food and Wine Time! by guest author Brent Dodge

Once a year foodies gather together in Epcot to celebrate Food and Wine. It's a special celebration for anyone who loves to put their adventurous taste buds to the test and try food from all corners of the globe (Antarctica not included).

Food and Wine

Unfortunately, I am not an adventurous eater. In fact, I'm barely an eater. I am possibly one of the pickiest eaters you will ever meet. I like the basic food groups: chicken, pizza, burgers, ice cream, and cookies. Let's face it, you at these five things you are guaranteed a long and happy life. Being a Disney fan I always try to get excited for Food and Wine, but due to my pickiness it is often difficult.

This year I've decided to try things differently. I have decided to just dive on in and attempt to hit all 30 booths around World Showcase Lagoon. I know that along the way there will be foods I hate. And I also know that there will be several (practically all) foods that I am not even interested in trying. However, it is my promise to myself to go where no Brent has gone before. So far I have attempted 10 booths and have lived to give my quick summary of each item. Below are my extremely professional critiques of the ten items I have had which are ranked from yucky to yummy (highly sophisticated).

Food and Wine

Australia: Grilled Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies: Yummy

Mexico: Taco de Rib-Eye with Salsa de Chipotle: Pretty Yummy, but spicy

China: Chicken Potstickers: Yummy, but the sauce is spicy

Chicken Potstickers

Italy: Ravioli de Formaggio all'Emilana: Very Yummy

Florida Local: Florida Grass Fed Beef Slider with Monterey Jack and Sweet and Hot Pickles: Best of the Best!

France: Escargots Persillade en Brioche: DISGUSTING

Canada: Le Cellier Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle Butter Sauce: Yummy

Germany: Roast Bratwurst in Pretzel Roll: Yummy

Roast Bratwurst in Pretzel Roll

Greece: Chicken Gyro with Tzatziki Sauce: Leaning towards yummy, but nothing amazing

Desserts and Champagne: Frozen S'mores: DISGUSTING

So there you have it. My extremely sophisticated way of ranking food at this year's Food and Wine so far! Now off to try the final 20!
